A FRAGILE LANDSCAPE

Lisa Ferrari

I'm thrilled to announce that Gallery 7six5 will present "A Fragile Landscape," an evocative group art exhibition by the artists of Art & Soul, curated by Benny Archer.

The exhibition, opening February 28th 2025, delves into the ephemeral beauty of our natural world and its delicate vessels—highlighting the interconnectedness of the environment and our own human fragility.

I will bring my interpretation of the exhibition's theme through my encaustic wax creations. I believe the landscape is a metaphor for existence—vast, diverse, and vulnerable to every whim of forces beyond its control. Through my work, I endeavour to draw attention to the fragility of life and the land beneath our feet.

"Fragility isn't just about delicate structures or the threat of breaking. It extends to the delicate balance that supports all life,

including the critical role bees play in our ecosystems' sustainability."

My work bears the weight of an important message: the preservation of bees. Using beeswax, damar resin, oils, acrylics and embroidery, I aim to weave a narrative around the plight of these diminutive yet indispensable creatures. Bees, both imported honey varieties and the critically endangered native species are losing their battle against the bleak realities of habitat loss, climate change, pesticides, disease and parasites.

At a time when beekeepers face dwindling numbers due to resource scarcity, unfair market pressures, and soaring costs, I hope to send out a call for action and awareness.

Our group exhibition, "A Fragile Landscape" serves as a platform to echo the silent plea of our planet, and it's inhabitants. My hope is that you will leave not only with a renewed appreciation for the artistic craft of the talented artists of Art & Soul: Emily Chibwana, Laurel Batterham, Alison Tippett, Valerie Laver and myself but with an urgent sense of responsibility towards the conservation of our shared environment.

Please join us for an unforgettable convergence of creativity and advocacy. Immerse yourself in "A Fragile Landscape" and be part of a movement to protect the most delicate among us—our bees, our bodies, our bounty.
